Welcome To The Atelier
An Atelier is a place of creativity, exploration, experimentation and investigation. More than just an art room, the Atelier is a space where children are given freedom of choice to explore a variety of art mediums, from visual materials such as paint or clays to more experiential forms of art, such as sound and light. In the Reggio Emilia philosophy, each of these different mediums are referred to as "languages", of which children have over a hundred. The more languages a child is able to develop, the better their ability to think creatively to solve problems. Here at The Village we know how important it is to child development and well-being that students are given the tools to foster their creative thinking and curiosities so we are thrilled to be able to offer this experience to our families. While creativity is supported in all of our classrooms, students in our Young Preschool classroom and above also have the opportunity of visiting our Atelier on a weekly basis.
